The stalled 2020 PBA Philippine Cup gets back on track with a double-header on Sunday, October 11 at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Angeles, Pampanga.
The newly-christened TNT Tropang Giga take on the Alaska Aces in the opening game at 4:00pm followed by the match between Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel and the NLEX Road Warriors in the main event.
The league’s full schedule is still awaiting the signature of commissioner Willie Marcial and is due for release on Wednesday but word of the initial pair of games already surfaced on Monday evening.
The games of the compressed All-Filipino conference will finally resume after being on hold for seven months due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The lone match was played on March 8 after the Season 45 opening ceremony with defending champion San Miguel toppling Magnolia, 94-78.
Two games will be played daily up until the end of the elimination round in mid-November. The top eight teams move on to the quarterfinals with the top four seeds carrying twice-to-beat advantages.
The semis will be a best-of-five affair while the finals will remain a best-of-seven series.
The Road Warriors will miss the services of Cyrus Baguio and Larry Fonacier for the entire conference while the Gin Kings will be without 2019 Governors’ Cup Finals MVP Japeth Aguilar for the first couple of games.
