Week 2 of PBA Bacolor play rolls off with an explosive Wednesday tripleheader with titleholder Barangay Ginebra featured in the mainer versus perennial contender Rain or Shine.
The Kings and the Elasto Painters clash at 6 p.m. in a rematch of one of the quarterfinals matchups in the 2020 Philippine Cup over at the AUF Gymnasium in Angeles, Pampanga.
Ginebra, the elims topnotcher then with a twice-to-beat advantage, took one game to dispose of Rain or Shine then repulsed Meralco and TNT in the next two rounds to claim the historic bubble championship.
But the Kings are currently a struggling team even with the addition of Christian Standhardinger, splitting their first four games over at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig then falling to a stinging 90-95 upset by the Terrafirma Dyip on Friday at the DHVSU Gym in Bacolor.
Standhardinger averaged 12.4 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.4 in his first five games as a Gin King.
The Elasto Painters got off to a better start in the tourney, but are also coming off a heartbreaker.
Coach Chris Gavina and his troops bungled what had looked like a won ball game in their 77-78 loss to the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters Thursday.
Needless to say, both the Gin Kings and the Elasto Painters are raring to bounce back.
