Brgy. Ginebra and NLEX have several things in common when they open-up their campaign Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup restart at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Angeles City.
Both the Gin Kings and Road Warriors want to quickly shake off whatever remaining rust there is and get off to a sterling start in the lone conference to be salvaged from a season severely hamstrung by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Just excited to play our first game in seven months,” said NLEX coach Yeng Guiao on the eve of the match.
“Preparation time has been short but we’ll have to rely on our residual chemistry from our time together as a team,” added Guiao.
Brgy. Ginebra coach Tim Cone is both thrilled and apprehensive going to the match.
“We’re a little bit more concerned about preparing ourselves rather than preparations for NLEX at this point,” said Cone.
LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar entered the bubble site at the Clark Freeport only on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, and got to join the Gin Kings’ practice for the first time Saturday evening.
