Lodged at fourth place, Barangay Ginebra fights for higher seeding when it faces a NorthPort side eyeing an outright quarterfinals entry in the penultimate play date of the PBA Governors Cup eliminations at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
The Kings ride the momentum of back-to-back wins over TNT KaTropa and Columbian Dyip while the Batang Pier are also on a high coming from a key victory over the NLEX Road Warriors as they square off at 6:45 p.m. in the third to the last match in the one-round-robin elims.
Ginebra’s 113-90 shellacking of Columbian Friday guaranteed the team of a Top Four finish and a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
But the Kings aren’t expected to go easy in their closing game in the elims as they want the benefit of momentum of a win plus positive vibes and energy going into the playoffs.
“Gusto namin galing kami sa panalo to start our playoff grind,” said Ginebra gunner Jeff Chan, among the keys in their emphatic win over the Dyip.
