NorthPort eyes a follow-up to a conference triumphant start while Magnolia Pambansang Manok looks to bounce back from a loss as they slug it out in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday.
Both were pretty solid in their debuts with the Batang Pier fashioning out a 99-94 win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Hotshots putting up a tough fight in a 92-98 loss to the Meralco Bolts.
The Batang Pier got to an auspicious start with their newly tweaked lineup that now features Russell Escoto and Jerramy King.
Escoto and King had their contributions off the bench but proving to be a big factor was Robert Bolick’s rousing return from his stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the World Cup.
Though out of NorthPort for most of the league break, Bolick sparkled with 20 points, five assists and four rebounds in 33 minutes of action.
Paul Lee and Mark Barroca also had shining numbers in their return to the Magnolia squad, but not enough to save the team from a losing tournament debut.
