Magnolia def Rain or Shine

Going wrong with Joel Wright, Rain or Shine looks to right things with new import Kayel Locke.

Off to a struggling 1-2 start with Wright, the Elasto Painters introduce Locke as they tangle with the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Friday.

“He already knows how we play. He runs our offense smoothly, bring a different look and can play multiple positions,” said ROS coach Caloy Garcia, hopeful Locke can bring in energy and effort that can key a turnaround for the team.

Locke, a product of North Carolina-Greensboro in US collegiate basketball, has proved to be a winner with his recent stint in the Malaysian league. He’s been around playing international ball, with earlier tours of duty in Kosovo, Latvia, the Netherlands, Finland and Estonia.

But he may need to step up right away especially as he’s up against Magnolia’s tested import in Romeo Travis.

The Hotshots barely blew away a big lead in their conference debut against the Meralco Bolts then bounced back with a 96-80 rout of the NorthPort Batang Pier.

“We learned a lot from our last game, same scenario, we were in control for 36 minutes but this time we held on all the way through,” said Magnolia coach Chito Victolero, hoping to sustain the effort against the E-Painters.
