Robert Bolick was among the few bright lights for Gilas Pilipinas in the recent FIBA World Cup in China, and he’s expected to keep his way as he brings his stuff back with NorthPort versus Rain or Shine on opening night of the PBA Governors Cup at the MOA Arena Friday.
The entire NorthPort team is raring to come out and plunge back into action after seeing a sorry end to their Commissioner’s Cup campaign – a blazing second-place finish to TNT KaTropa in the elims that went for naught on a quarterfinal letdown versus eventual champion San Miguel Beer.
To help the Batang Pier pick up the pieces is import Mychal Ammons, not unfamiliar with the PBA play, having a previous PBA tour of duty with TNT KaTropa as a replacement to Mario Little in 2016.
The 27-year-old Ammons, who led TNT to a semis finish then, is fresh from a stint with the Zonkeys de Tijuana in the Mexican league where he averaged 16.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 37 games.
Ammons and the Batang Pier will be up against a Rain or Shine side reinforced by another PBA balik import in Joel Wright, formerly with Magnolia.
