San Miguel kicks off its quest for the third and last gem to complete a Triple Crown when it takes on Phoenix Pulse Friday in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Beermen have health issues, particularly the injuries by June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter and Christian Standhardinger, but they’re fully warmed up for the 7 p.m. setto coming from their East Asia League Terrific 12 stint in Macau.
San Miguel settled for a fourth-place finish but the Macau journey could serve the Beermen well, especially the get-to-know process they had there with import Dez Wells.
Chemistry may no longer be a problem as Wells and the Beermen tangle with the Fuel Masters and their resident import Eugene Phelps.
Phoenix is playing its second game in the season-ending tourney, looking to rebound from a 116-123 defeat at the hands of NLEX in a Petron Blaze Saturday Special also at the Big Dome.
