San Miguel added another feather to its cap by becoming the lowest seeded team (7th) in the playoffs to clinch the title after completely dominating TNT in Game 6 to capture the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown via 102-90 victory, Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Beermen, thus, captured the 2nd jewel of the league’s 44th season to move to just a crown away from completing a rare Grand Slam which the team also accomplished in 1989.
Aside from having the distinction of being the league’s winningest team with 27 championships, the flagship team of the SMC Group also became the most successful team in the Commissioner’s Cup with 4 titles now tucked under its belt.
Chris McCullough had another brilliant performance as the former NBA player finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks in almost 48 minutes of play to power San Miguel to its 3rd consecutive win in the Finals and complete a series comeback after being down 1-2.
“We’re two-thirds from our goal. One-third na lang at aabot na tayo,” said San Miguel governor Robert Non during the awarding ceremony.
