Former Brgy. Ginebra behemoth Greg Slaughter took to court on the same day the Gin Kings returned to practice and paid a tribute to fallen Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant who would’ve turned 42 on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).
The 32-year old Fil-Am posted a video and photos of himself working out at the DME Sports Academy in Daytona, Florida with trainer Gary Boyson on his Instagram account.
“I’ve worn this Kobe jersey every training session so I’d never take any day for granted. Happy birthday Kobe Bryant,” wrote Slaughter who donned the NBA great’s No. 10 Team USA jersey.
“Honoring you on this day by putting in the work with Gary Boyson,” he added.
Boyson was a former scout for the Lakers and also for the New York Knicks.
Slaughter left for the US shortly after the Gin Kings reclaimed the Governors’ Cup crown last January against the Meralco Bolts and bade the team and its supporters farewell through an emotional Instagram post.
Brgy. Ginebra coach Tim Cone recently disclosed that he is still in the dark with regards to the playing status of the 2014 PBA Rookie of the Year.
“We haven’t have much contact with Greg. I know he has spoken to LA (Tenorio) a couple of times, he has spoken to some of the players. (But) I really don t have an update on what he is doing or where his whereabouts are,” admitted Cone.
“In terms of Greg, we’re kind of in limbo,” he added.
Slaughter, through an Instagram post last July 10, announced his decision to sign up with BeoBasket, an international basketball agency which represents several NBA and EuroLeague players.
