Justin Brownlee expected to return to Brgy. Ginebra for Commissioner’s and Governors’ Cup

Brgy. Ginebra’s resident reinforcement Justin Brownlee is expected to rejoin the team for the upcoming PBA season’s Commissioner’s and Governors’ Cup.

As per Gin Kings coach Tim Cone, the 31-year old native of Tifton, Georgia will just take a much-needed vacation before suiting up once more for the crowd darlings.

“We expect to bring him bring him back in the second conference next time and in the third conference after that. He certainly deserves a break physical-wise during the all-Filipino. But he will be back next year,” said Cone.

The one-time Best Import awardee had a similar arrangement during the recently-concluded season with the Gin Kings falling to TNT, 3-1, in the semifinals of the Commissioner’s Cup before claiming the Governors’ Cup title, the team’s third in the last four seasons, over the Meralco Bolts.

Overall, Brownlee has powered the Tim Cone-mentored squad to four titles in his six stints. Aside from the semis loss to the KaTropa, the only other time that he failed to lead the team to the promised land was during the 2018 Governors’ Cup when they bowed to the Magnolia Hotshots in the semifinals, 3-1.

In addition, the 6-foot-7 Gilas Pilipinas naturalization candidate also boasts of a Commissioner’s Cup crown – the 2018 edition wherein he went up against San Miguel’s Renaldo Balkman, a former teammate at Alab Pilipinas in the ABL, in the Finals and prevailed.

“He will be back and he will be even better next season,” said Cone.
