Justin Brownlee on Stanley Pringle: “He’s an extra weapon and he’ll make things easier for everybody”

Defending champion Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel unveiled a new weapon last Sunday at the Batangas City Coliseum in the person of last season’s scoring champion Stanley Pringle.

And the 1st overall pick of the 2014 PBA Rookie Draft wasted no time in displaying the form that earned him a spot in the 2018 Mythical First Team by finishing with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals as the Gin Kings demolished the NLEX Road Warriors 127-99 in front of a rambunctious pro-Ginebra crowd.

Reigning Best Import of the Commissioner’s Cup Justin Brownlee, who paced the team in scoring with 37 points on a scorching 14/19 (73%) shooting clip from the field, was delighted to have the equally prolific Pringle on board.

“Definitely, an extra weapon for us. He can make the game easier for everybody – not just me or an individual person,” said the three-time PBA champion.

“I think with him on the court, being able to do what he can do. I think he’s gonna make it easier for everybody,” he added.

Aside from being a legit scorer, Brownlee praised his new teammate for contributing on the defensive end as well.

“He’s not only just a scorer but he’s a playmaker. On both ends, for me, I have seen him get a couple of steals. I think one or two steals tonight, and he’s good at helping off the ball, even on the ball,” said the well-loved American reinforcement.

“He’s a really good defender. And you know, his offense. Everybody knows what he can do on offense and scoring, playmaking, getting through the defense, and kicking it and stuff like that.”

Brownlee, Pringle and the rest of the Gin Kings will be back on the court on Friday, June 28 when they take on the unpredictable Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
