LA Tenorio admits hitting Terrence Jones but claims it wasn’t a punch: “Tinapik ko lang naman”

Tempers flared between Brgy. Ginebra guard LA Tenorio and TNT import Terrence Jones during the 3rd quarter of the Brgy. Ginebra vs TNT match, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, which resulted in the latter getting called for a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 (FFP1).

The 27-year old former NBA player claimed that Tenorio started the ball rolling by punching him in the stomach. A move that apparently was not seen by the game officials.

The 5-foot-9 native of Nasugbu, Batangas, however, insisted that it was the other way around.

“Ang ganda-ganda ng laro eh. Nagulat lang ako kasi one time, parang pababa ako sa transition biglang sinikmuraan niya ako. I don’t know if you saw that during the third quarter,” said Tenorio shortly after the Kings absorbed their 2nd straight loss.

The move by Jones prompted the Kings’ starting point guard to retaliate.

“Bumawi ako, actually mahina lang naman. Aaminin ko naman kung nakita nila eh, aaminin ko naman,” said the many-time national team player.

“Tinapik ko lang naman eh. I take full responsibility,” he added.

While Jones was already assessed with an FFP1 during a separate incident, Tenorio hopes that league officials will see the initial hit once they review the game tape.

“Kung ano man ang ma-review ng PBA, let’s see. I’m willing to take full responsibility pero sana tingnan din nila kung ano yung ginawa niya sakin bago ko gawin yun.”
