Just days after arriving at the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga, LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar emerged from room quarantine and joined Brgy. Ginebra’s practice on the night before the Gin Kings take on the NLEX Road Warriors in the main event of the opening day of the 2020 Philippine Cup restart.
Tenorio arrived Wednesday, still recovering from a laparoscopic appendectomy just two weeks earlier while Aguilar arrived the day after.
While the two were able to attend their first practice, head coach Tim Cone remains doubtful of the duo’s game shape.
“Just the day before the game is the time that we’re getting LA and Japeth back into the lineup, so we don’t know if we’ll get contributions from them in our first game,” said Cone.
“We’re a little bit more concerned about preparing ourselves rather than preparations for NLEX at this point,” he added.
With everybody on the roster raring to play, the league’s winningest mentor believes that the rest of the Gin Kings would gladly step up in the event that any of the two, or both for that matter, perform below par.
“We certainly have guys who can step and fill the void, so that’ who we’ll go with. One thing for sure, everybody is excited to play again.”
