Brgy. Ginebra chief playmaker LA Tenorio had another intense encounter with TNT import Terrence Jones in the opening frame of Game 3 of the two team’s best-of-five semifinal series, Monday night at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.
The two already had a previous incident during the elimination round when Jones was slapped with a flagrant foul for hitting a driving Tenorio. The former NBA player claimed that it just a retaliation since the veteran guard punched him in the stomach during an earlier play.
The second encounter happened in the 5:55 mark of the opening quarter when the two chased after a loose ball after Gin Kings import Justin Brownlee tapped the ball away from his counterpart. Tenorio gave Jones a slight nudge as the ball was about to go out of bounds and possession was awarded to the Gin Kings. The KaTropa reinforcement then walked towards the 13-year PBA veteran and then stared him down.
The 2013 Commissioner’s Cup BPC, however, refused to give an inch and stared back at Jones.
“Paborito niya ako eh, hindi ko alam kung bakit,” said Tenorio with a smirk.
Turning serious, the 35-year old native of Nasugbu, Batangas downplayed the incident and said it was just part of the game.
“Wala naman yun. It’s part of the game especially very emotional. Siyempre, semifinals na rin ito. May mga instances na mangyayari yung ganun.”
Game 4 of the series is on Thursday, August 1, 7:00pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with TNT still ahead, 2-1.
