Meralco reinforcement Allen Durham dished out another monster performance with 39 points, 12 boards and 7 assists as the Bolts ran over previously streaking Brgy. Ginebra by 24 points, 101-77, Sunday night in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 2-time Best Import awardee was unstoppable in the paint and similarly from beyond the arc hitting 4-of-5 for a sizzling 80% shooting clip as the Bolts led by as much as 28 pointed and cruised to the finish line for the lopsided win.
Meralco, thus, rolled to its 3rd consecutive victory for a 6-2 record which is good for 3rd spot in the team standings while Brgy. Ginebra settled for a 5-3 slate after seeing its 4-game winning run come to and end.
“Little bit of an understatement but offensively and defensively, we really played well obviously led by Allen Durham who really got us off to a great start offensively and also as far as controlling the boards,” said Meralco coach Norman Black.
Bong Quinto contributed 13 points and 5 boards for the Bolts while Chris Newsome and Raymond Almazan chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Justin Brownlee led the Gin Kings with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists while LA Tenorio was the only local who managed to score in double figures with 12.
Brgy. Ginebra’s next assignment is against the new-look TNT KaTropa on Friday, November 6 also at the Big Dome.
