Rey Nambatac sizzled with a career-high 21 points right in the first half and added nine more in the second half in a hot shooting night to power Rain or Shine to a 104-81 rout of titleholder Barangay Ginebra at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday night.
Nambatac drained six three-pointers in the first two quarters and drained one more after the halftime break as he matched Justine Brownlee’s 30-point output for Ginebra.
The former Letran hotshot also came through with two rebounds and one assist to go with his 10-of-14 field clip in a career game propelling the Elasto Painters to a breakthrough victory after a 0-2 start in the midseason tourney.
Denzel Bowles put in double-double numbers with 25 markers and 17 boards while Javee Mocon contributed 11 points, six dish-offs and five rebounds off the bench to help ROS overcome the hump while stopping Ginebra’s two-game charge.
The Kings dropped to 2-2.
With tremendous resolve after back-to-back losses to Meralco and Blackwater, the Elasto Painters finally pulled a first win in the tourney – and their first since narrowly missing the finale in the last Philippine Cup.
