NLEX is not going home from its PBA Governors Cup stint here empty-handed.
Kiefer Ravena led a slew of determined Road Warriors who saw to that.
Clamping down on defense and making the big shots that mattered, NLEX stunned Barangay Ginebra with a come-from-behind 113-111 overtime win Saturday at the Coca-Cola Arena.
The victory atoned for the Road Warriors’ 94-98 loss to San Miguel Beer just the night before and gave them a 4-1 slate overall.
This one should be extra memorable, considering NLEX had to claw its way back from 28 points down and play the five-minute extension minus import Olu Ashaolu, who fouled out late in regulation.
“We got lucky. But you get lucky when you work hard, when you don’t give up” said winniing coach Yeng Guiao.
“From the first half I think we were behind by 28 points, then losing our import before overtime? It’s one of those games you’ll remember for a long time,” added Guiao.
The result, Guiao also said, should also serve his team in good stead as they go forward and beyond in the season-ending conference.
