No Christmas Day game this season as PBA schedules Governors’ Cup Finals after the holidays

For the second straight year, the PBA has decided against holding a game on Christmas day in order to give players and team officials a chance to celebrate the holidays with families and loved ones.

Despite the league drawing huge crowds during Christmas games, Commissioner Willie Marcial has deemed it best to give the entire PBA family a much-needed break.

As things stand, Brgy. Ginebra has already booked the first ticket to the championship round while TNT and Meralco will square off for the last time in Game 5 of their semifinal series which is scheduled on Monday, December 23.

Once the Finals cast is complete, the league will proceed with a two-week break in time for Christmas and New Year.

The duel for the 2019 Governors’ Cup crown will kick-off on January 8, 2020.

The last time the league held a Christmas day game was in 2017 during the Philippine Cup with a double-header at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan featuring GlobalPort and NLEX in the first game and Brgy. Ginebra vs Magnolia in the main event.
