PBA teams scrambling to beat November 6 trade deadline

The PBA trading scene has been a busy one for the past couple of weeks and is expected to reach fever pitch with the trade deadline fast approaching.

With 1 day to go before the ban on swapping players takes effect, teams are now burning the lines in the hopes of striking a last-minute deal.

So far, 5 deals have already been approved by the league with big name players such as Christian Standhardinger, Chris Banchero, Allein Maliksi and Ray Parks switching teams.

Blackwater has been the busiest of all the 12 teams with three deals, two with TNT while the other one was with the Meralco Bolts.

SMC teams San Miguel and Magnolia figured in one apiece, swapping players with NorthPort and Alaska, respectively.

A total of 14 players have since switched teams.

“Naghahabol yung teams natin sa trade deadline,” explained league commissioner Willie Marcial on the November 6 deadline.

The ban on trading players, however, won’t be in effect for long since teams eliminated from contention in the 2019 Governors’ Cup are allowed to make deals a day after the December 8 annual rookie draft.

The ban, however, stays in effect for teams still in the hunt for the title of the season-ending conference.
