Brgy. Ginebra gave new recruit Stanley Pringle a rousing welcome as the Gin Kings blasted the NLEX Road Warriors, 100-85, Sunday night at the hot and slippery Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
Justin Browlee fired 37 points to go along with 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead his team to its second consecutive victory and a 4-3 record in the elimination round of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Pringle finished with 16 markers in his debut game for the crowd darlings after getting traded for the trio of Sol Mercado, Kevin Ferrer and Jervy Cruz.
It was so hot and humid inside the venue that league officials almost cancelled the game at the break as players continued to slip and slide during the first half.
“It was tough conditions tonight playing the second game. The first game is always a lot safer than the second game because of the crowd and all the humidity starts to get worse, the floor gets more slippery. That’s always my experience playing in out-of-town games when there are two games,” said Brgy. Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
“Just glad to be able to come through it. We came out well in the third quarter. Justin and Stanley started playing well together and that’s something we envision,” he added.
LA Tenorio and Greg Slaughter backstopped their explosive duo with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Poy Erram paced the Road Warriors, who fell deeper in the cellar at 1-7, with 20 points and 14 boards while import Tony Mitchell added 17 markers.
