San Miguel gets even, scores lopsided win to avenge blowout loss in Game 1

It’s one huge pendulum swing that boggled the mind.

Titleholder San Miguel Beer made a mighty fightback from a 99-127 loss in the series opener, fashioning out a vengeful 134-109 triumph over Barangay Ginebra in Game Two of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven title playoff at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.

Coach Leo Austria stuck with his big guns for most of the game as they redeemed themselves from their shattering Game One loss and thus sent the series back to scratch.

“I was sad the last time as we’re humiliated. But we have a series now, and I’m thankful to my players for realizing the importance of this game,” said Austria.

“One blowout was followed by another blowout. Funny, we talked about them turning the tables. We talked about it, and talked about it, but we still failed to stop them,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone. “Now we know they are who they are for a reason.”

Right at the start, both teams made adjustments that seemed to work on San Miguel’s favor.
