Brgy, Ginebra head coach Tim Cone is not yet in the mood to push the panic button.
The Gin Kings raced to a 4-0 start to open their campaign in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup restart but dropped their last 2 matches – a 10-point setback to Manila Clasico rival Magnolia and a heart-breaking 3-point loss to Rain or Shine.
The 62-year old American mentor, however, remains unfazed.
“We just feel we played two really good teams which made big shots down the stretch to beat. But we’re not ready to panic,” stressed Cone.
While the twin losses have stymied the team’s march to the top, the 4 earlier victories have served as enough cushion to somehow absorb the impact.
“We’re thankful we got off to a hot start and put ourselves in a good position,” said the 2-time Grand Slam-winning mentor.
Cone nonetheless admitted that it won’t be easy pickings from this point on.
“Every game is going to be a battle here in the bubble. Every opponent is tough. There’s no gimme’s,” said Cone.
“It’s going to be a sprint to the Top 4,” he added.
