Stanley Pringle executed a gorgeous crossover to get by KJ McDaniels for a big bucket as Barangay Ginebra carved out a 96-93 win over TNT KaTropa to regain a piece of fourth place in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday.
Falling behind, 92-94, on that Pringle basket, the KaTropa had a chance to tie but McDaniels split his free throws, and thus the Kings pulled through and caught up with the San Miguel Beermen again at 6-3.
NLEX (7-1) gained the solo lead as TNT dropped to a tie for second place with Meralco at 7-3.
“I was ready to go to overtime. I was already thinking of overtime. Thankfully, we didn’t go into it,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone, ending up with a hoarse voice from the well-fought battle.
“They did it without Jayson (Castro) and we did it without Greg (Slaughter). But they had Bobby Ray (Parks) who’s a good fit for them and in the things that they do. I think they would be a force in the league,” Cone also said.
