Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone almost resigned on his team with its lackadaisical first-half game, letting assistant Richard del Rosario take the cudgels in the second half.
And it worked!
“I shouldn’t be the one talking to you. Richard did most of the talking and coaching in the second half. The players responded and I couldn’t be prouder,” said Cone shortly after their come-from-behind 110-95 blasting of Meralco Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“I think we didn’t put up any fight in the first half, and it was discouraging. They talked about it at halftime. They came out and played with so much fight. And I couldn’t be prouder of their turnaround,” Cone also said.
Ginebra made a key turnaround in the third period, waking up from a slumber and roaring all the way to 15-point victory in their second outing in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
