Tim Cone admitted Barangay Ginebra is not yet in perfect playing condition that kept the reigning PBA Philippine Cup champion at the lower half of the standings three weeks into the new season.
“We’re not at that level now because we got all kind of changes in our team, and we’re kind of struggling,” said the veteran coach.
The addition of new players such as Christian Standhardinger and rookies Brian Enriquez and Ken Holmqvist and injuries to Aljon Mariano and Art Dela Cruz compounded even more the Kings’ slow start that saw them split their first four games so far.
But Cone is looking at things with a positive mindset especially during this most challenging time.
The Kings adopted the same attitude last year and succeeded in winning the all-Filipino conference played for the very first time under a bubble setup.
“The teams that handle it the best, and keep a positive attitude about things are the one going to be victorious,” said the Ginebra mentor after the Kings raised their record to an even 2-2 following a thrilling 87-85 win over NorthPort.
“And that’s what we did well in the bubble. We were very positive about things, we never got down, we never got upset about things. We just let roll out our piece and said we’re OK.”
