Brgy. Ginebra blasted from the PBA Governors Cup starting block, pulling off an emphatic 102-83 triumph over Alaska Milk at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
Justin Browlee did the Justin Brownlee things and the Gin Kings took the cue in a rousing start in a bid to reclaim the crown they lost to the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots last year.
Back for yet another tour of duty with the squad he has led to three championships, Brownlee immediately made impression he means business, coming away with 30 points and 22 rebounds on top of five steals and four assists.
“Coach (Tim Cone) put on the board the word aggressiveness, and we came out and tried to be aggressive,” said Brownlee.
He led numerous Ginebra players who stepped up as they joined NLEX, Meralco and NorthPort at 1-0 while sending Alaska to 0-2.
The prolific Ginebra resident import collected double-double numbers – 19 points and 12 rebounds – right in the first half, leading the Kings to a 52-32 lead at the turn.
