Japeth Aguilar executed a thunderous throw-down in a follow-up to a Justin Brownlee miss, then converted a tough reversed layup off Allen Durham, with both shots getting the crowd up on their feet.
Those baskets were among the highlights of a fourth-quarter storm Barangay Ginebra unleashed to roar past Meralco, 111-105, and stay in the lead in the PBA Governors Cup at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Arena here last night.
Aguilar and his teammates fired almost at will in the final canto as they kept their supremacy of the Bolts in nailing a seventh win in eight outings in the season-ending tourney.
Aguilar came through with a personal tournament high of 31 points, and Brownlee put in the same output, leading the Ginebra charge against the Bolts whom they dealt a fifth straight loss after a triumphant conference debut.
The Kings actually started the romp late in the third.
Durham sparked a crucial 11-0 run as Ginebra wrested the lead at 75-72 entering the final canto.
LA Tenorio then scored on a perimeter shot followed by a three-pointer to touch off a 15-7 tear to start the last quarter as the Kings went on to continue to pace the field in the race for the Top Four.
