WATCH: Gin Kings regroup! Lunch treat by LA & Scottie!

Tim Cone is set for a return with Barangay Ginebra in time for its final two games in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Head deputy Richard Del Rosario disclosed the 64-year-old Cone will be arriving in Manila on Saturday, and barring jetlag and all, is going to call the shots for the Kings in their game against the NorthPort Batang Pier on Sunday.

Cone attended the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas where he worked as part of the Miami Heat staff under coach Erik Spoelstra.

“Coach Tim will be back, and that’s the good news,” said Del Rosario. “I’m sure his presence will give the players a huge lift.”

The Kings split their four games in the absence of Cone, although the back-to-back losses against defending champion TNT and Meralco on Wednesday night hurt their chances of landing in the Top 2 for a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals.

The two straight losses dropped Ginebra to 6-3 with still two games left against NorthPort and Phoenix.

Even if the Kings sweep their remaining matches for an 8-3 record and a tie with the Tropang Giga at second place, TNT will still emerge as the no. 2 seed by virtue of its 106-92 win over Ginebra.
