Barangay Ginebra’s masterful third quarter performance was enough to wrest away Game 3 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals against the Meralco Bolts, 92-84, Sunday evening at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Ginebra outscored their opponents 35-16, which saw a slim 43-42 spread widen to an emphatic 78-58 lead at the conclusion of the third, and a 2-1 series advantage in the best-of-seven affair.
That would be challenged by Meralco as import Allen Durham caught fire inside, trimming the lead to as low as five, 87-82. However, a booming three-pointer from LA Tenorio kept their opponents at bay.
Justin Brownlee dazzled once more with a 24-point, nine-rebound, nine-assist statline, while Japeth Aguilar put up 23 markers and seven blocks.
Game 4 will be on Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the same venue.
