On the verge of getting eliminated, the Magnolia Hotshots put on a show to dominate Barangay Ginebra, 106-77, in Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Magnolia coach Chito Victolero said his players were challenged after their uncharacteristic performance in the series opener last Saturday.
“It was not Magnolia Hotshots basketball,” Victolero said about their Game 1 loss. “We had a good bounce back. The most important thing is our mindset. We needed to go all-out in all possessions both offense and defense.”
Ian Sangalang starred in the crucial victory, finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds in just 21 minutes of play.
Robert Herndon and Jio Jalalon also waxed hot as they finished with 18 and 17 points, respectively, alongside five rebounds each. Jalalon also chipped in six assists.
