Stanley Pringle scored on a clutch drive off KJ McDaniels while Justin Browlee drained two crucial freebies as Brgy. Ginebra outlasted TNT, 96-93, Friday night in the 2019 PBA Govenors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Pringle’s basket gave the Gin Kings back the lead after the KaTropa unleashed a dizzying 10-0 run capped by a booming triple by Roger Pogoy to tie the game at 92 with 32 ticks left in the game clock.
With the game tied, McDaniels missed the backend of two free throws which led to a game-saving play by LA Tenorio and Brownlee’s insurance points.
The Gin Kings, thus, formally barged into the next round with a 6-3 record which is good for a tie for 4th place with the San Miguel Beermen.
“That was huge. Really a must, must win. I’m happy to get it even though we didn’t play well in the last two minutes. We didn’t execute the way we wanted to in the last two minutes. We were still able pull it out,” said Brgy. Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
