TNT pounced on Rain or Shine’s veritable meltdown in the closing minutes to eke out a 103-91 victory Saturday and grab a share of the lead in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
KJ McDaniels finished with 37 points, 13 rebounds and five assists while Troy Rosario, Jayson Castro, Roger Pogoy and Don Trollano did their usual roles as chief support to their all-around import.
Rosario came off the bench for 16 points and nine rebounds, starter Castro had 15 points and seven dimes while Pogoy and Trollano chipped in 12 points each.
Still, it was the Elasto Painters collapsing after Joel Wright was forced to sit out the last four minutes of play that practically pushed the KaTropa to realize the victory in the Petron Saturday Special presentation and improve to 2-0 overall and a tie with NLEX.
Wright, who was struggling for practically the entire game, was slapped with an F1 after intentionally tripping Rosario following their rebounding battle, still 3:50 to go.
