Brgy. Ginebra would not allow itself to be dragged by Magnolia to a grind-out affair anew.
Justin Brownlee made sure of that.
Brownlee scored a game-high 30 points following a big third quarter explosion and powered the Gin Kings to a 106-80 rout of the Hotshots Tuesday and into the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The reigning conference Best Import scored 16 of his points built around three of his triples that fully yanked Brgy. Ginebra away from Magnolia’s clutches in the game that started out as a close one.
By the time Brownlee was through, the Kings were up 87-60 and their first win over the Hotshots in their last three playoffs meetings is secure.
As a team, Brgy. Ginebra made 43 of its 81 field goal attempts, with Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio and Stanley Pringle also finishing in double digits. In only his sixth game in the conference, Mark Caguioa came off the bench for 12 points.
